The roofing method proven to solve almost any flat roofing problem…

GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) roofing, or fibreglass roofing is a flat roofing system made up of a resin with glass or fibrous strands that support the material used to roof homes. The curing process includes a compound which is applied to turn the liquid resin into a solid over a short period of time. A properly laid GRP roof will last for at least 30 years with no weakening.

Installation includes a layer of resin, then fibreglass strands, then another layer of resin. A topcoat is then applied to create a weatherproof surface.

The firm, fully-bonded water-resistant membrane covers the complete roof with no seams, joints or welds – regularly the weakest point of other flat roofing systems.

Why should I choose GRP?

When we say durable, we mean durable. GRP has an incredible strength-to-weight ratio and cannot be cut or damaged with a knife, won’t deteriorate under UV light or extreme heat and will tolerate foot traffic. With optional non-slip finishes the roof can also withstand frequent, heavy foot traffic, ideal if you want to adapt a flat roof for use as a balcony or terrace.

GRP has a great environmental profile as it uses much less energy in production than many other roofing materials. The roofing resins used do not give off any harmful substances or create any other toxic by-products for the environment. It also doesn’t require heat during installations. GRP can be fitted in any location, including close to factories or commercial buildings managing chemicals due to its resistance to corrosion.

The system can be adapted for almost all roofing features (from skylights to pipes) incorporating them into the laminate with ease. GRP has several unique properties which result in it being able to be moulded to almost any form and around irregular roof shapes. Previous roof removal and installation is also flexible and straightforward – all you need is one day with clear weather.

The aesthetic appearance of a completed GRP roof is one of its biggest appeals - clean and seamless, whilst available in a range of colours.

In terms of spend, the likelihood of GRP roofing needing repair is much smaller than other roofing types, but the more specialised tools and materials means the overall initial cost more expensive.
