Q: What’s the difference between porcelain paving slabs and natural stone slabs?

A: Porcelain paving slabs are manufactured by firing refined clay and minerals at extremely high temperatures in a kiln, creating a tough, low-porosity surface. This process means porcelain slabs are very uniform in size, thickness, and colour, making them easy to lay and ideal for consistent designs. They’re also highly resistant to stains, moisture, and general weathering.

Natural stone slabs, like sandstone or limestone, are quarried directly from the earth, meaning every slab is unique with its own textures, colour variations, and natural charm. However, because natural stone is more porous, it usually needs sealing and a bit more maintenance to protect it from stains, moisture, and the effects of weather over time.
