JT Atkinson & Sons Ltd, has recently expanded its business by acquiring Hathaway & Hoyle Timber Merchants in Stockton on Tees. This is a positive progression for the builders’ merchant.
Hathaway & Hoyle were established in 1971 and trade from a two and a half acre site in Stockton on Tees. The company is one of the few remaining independent timber merchants in the North East and stocks a wide range of carcassing timber, mouldings and sheet materials, as well as having the facilities for milling and timber treatment and the ability to design and manufacture I-Joists. All of this allows Hathaway & Hoyle to provide an exceptional service to a wide range of customers including builders, contractors, shop fitters and joiners.
Eric Atkinson, Operations Director states “We had identified the need to develop further into timber and timber engineering so the opportunity to acquire Hathaway & Hoyles’ business was perfect. The company has a solid customer base and delivers over a wide geographical area. It is our intention to supply our existing branches as well as develop sales from the Stockton branch.” Mr Atkinson added “I am delighted Hathaway & Hoyle are joining our company. Lee Sinton is the General Manager and continues to be responsible for the development of the business.”
